Like the “Brown Betty” teapots, the Cobalt Betty’s, made in England, are touted as making the best pot of tea in the world because they are hand-made with terracotta red clay, which retains heat better than other clays. These classic round teapots are fired with a rich cobalt blue glaze and feature an interlocking lid. Being hand-made, slight irregularities may occur in the glazing process; however, these will not affect the use or beauty of the teapots.

Hand-made in England. The stamp on the bottom of the teapot says “Made in England – Adderley Ceramics”

Betty Teapot care:

Betty teapots are made from the local clay and are not as strong as the fine bone china ones, which conduct heat more easily. Since the terracotta type of clay does not tolerate thermal stresses well it is always better to warm them before use.

Note: if you have stone/marble worktops it is best not to have the betty teapot sitting directly on the counter top when pouring in boiling water as these types of counters can lead to cracking.
